Turzum plantation isn't new land to us, for it is a part of the beautiful Sungma estates. The estate was established around 1863 by British planters. The Sungma-Turzum joint estates are considered among the most lovely in Darjeeling for their scenery. A devastating earthquake in 1934 destroyed the factory in Sungma. Since then, all the teas produced in both estates are processed in the Turzum estate's factory. Located in the Rung Bong valley, the elevation ranges from 1100-1700 feet. Managed by the Jayshree group, Sungma and Turzum have some of the finest teas and views in Darjeeling.
