Donyi Polo in Arunachal Pradesh was planted in 1986, the first tea garden in the state. Three major variety of tea plants - Assamica, Chinary and Cambodia are grown here. Spread across the foothills of the Himalayas in an area of around 420 hectares, about 25% of its produce is certified organic and the estate is doing its bit to turn the entire cultivation organic. The state’s congenial climate and its network of spring-fed rivers makes its land unique andjust perfect for tea. Donyi Polo produces the acclaimed and highly prized Golden Needles and the unique Purple tea.
