Wayanad Cardamom

I was raised by a British mum and naively thought I knew everything about tea. Silly me! After marrying my Malayalee husband, I discovered the Hill Stations in Kerala and I quickly learned the grey tea "dust" we get in the west is not "real" tea. We tried everything available in Kerala and I became a huge fan of the fresh and flavorful Kanan Devan loose teas - we literally drive miltes/kms to buy from the source every time we are home in India because there is nothing like it in the US or UK. (Yes, I've been lucky enough to have had high tea in many fancy London hotels and Kanan Devan from a roadside tea cart in Munnar is far better).
That said, finding Teabox has been a revelation. We started with the the trial pack of 10 chai's and Wayanad Cardamom was the family's overwhelming favorite. We've bought it four more times since January! It is expensive, so we treat it like gold; but the deep color, the flavor balance between the rich black tea and the delicate creamy cardamom and the amazing freshness of the Teabox teas make it worth every dollar!

Tiny pieces of tea in the fancy vacuum sealed bag. Using a large mesh infuser, it brewed up dark as coffee, with strong grassy and peeled-twig flavors. Not what I expected.
