Kanyam Classic Spring Black Tea

description

Spring teas from Nepal have always been assertive and quite bold. And therefore this pick from Kanyam surprised us with its mellowness. Its flavors are fresh, very lively, and bright-tasting, and flow with a restraint that’s quite enjoyable.

Truly Delicious

This is a delicious first flush tea from Nepal. The dried leaves smell like grassy coriander, and there are quite a few lighter, silvery tips included. The liquor brews golden green with a short steep, and the taste is slightly fruity and very, very smooth. One of my favorites from Nepal so far..

Almost like dessert

The fruity/sweet taste of this black tea is very good. I am definitely enjoying it, and the price is very good.

Excellent and clean! Great added to a blend.

Likes : Great Aroma.

Dislikes : Bitter if Over-Steeped.

Best Served : Anytime.

A lovely and light tea, a bit of astringency as others have noted. I've blended with some Assam and Keemun, this adds that little "extra"!

Tastes Very fresh and Green

Likes : Freshness.

Dislikes : Weak.

Best Served : Afternoon.

A very pleasant Spring tea, which can survive a long stew in the teapot. It tastes very green and spring like. I don't think milk particularly improves it but a nice fresh cuppa.

Great value for money

Likes : Smooth Body, High Quality.

Dislikes : Bitter if Over-Steeped.

Best Served : Morning.

This tea is a great example of the upcoming high-quality, Darjeeling-like teas from Nepal. Not your absolute best of its kind, it is still a great value for money and a good introduction to Nepalese first flush teas. Very mellow overall, this Spring flush has vegetal and spicy notes, a hint of stone fruit, and a slightly astringent finish.

Delightfully clean and bright

Likes : Freshness, Smooth Body, High Quality.

Dislikes : Bitter if Over-Steeped.

Best Served : Afternoon.

This tea has the perfect balance of astringency that one desires from a first flush Nepalese or Darjeeling tea. Up front are hints of grape and slightly nutty with bright and clean finish. Very smooth. Brew for 3 minutes to avoid excessive tannins.
