Murphulani Special Summer Black Tea

description

Most summer black teas from Assam are astringent and have a thick, malty and woody flavor profile. This one stood out for being earthier, barely astringent and for notes of stewed apricots and fresh peanuts.

aroma

Lifted notes of stewed apricots, honey, hints of malt and honeysuckle.

The liquor is crisp, medium-bodied, and clean flavored. There is strong earthy quality to the brew that stands out right from the start. Notes of dried apricots and raw peanuts are discernible but unimposing. The liquor is brisk, edgy at time and feels ample in the mouth.

A lighter, brighter Assam tea

Likes : Smooth Body, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Afternoon.

A strong and earthy flavour profile, leaning towards the brighter, lighter notes. A perfect afternoon pick-me-up. Most enjoyable!

Strong tea with strong notes

Dislikes : Strong.

Best Served : Anytime.

Nice tea. But found the strong notes of dates and cilantro (combined together, this tasted like non-roasted cocoa) too dominating! Definitely not one of the subtle teas. But this tea provides it promised caffeine dosage.

A Lighter Assam

Likes : Freshness, Smooth Body.

Best Served : Morning.

Disclaimer: I am trying this tea at work under less than ideal circumstances. It has a nice color in the cup - kind of like a dark honey. First sip provides a very full, fruity taste that coats the mouth and invites a second. Which is good, because the aroma is a bit overpowering - a bit too malty and fruity. That being said, this is a lovely light Assam.
