Shakhira Special Spring Black Tea

description

A Nepalese tea that is a tad edgier than a Darjeeling of the season, it’s one for those who enjoy a brisk cup. The flavors are not too complex, easy on the palate, making it a great all-day tea.

A good black tea

Likes : Unique Flavor Profile.

I like this tea, but it was rather ordinary for me. As a black tea, I found it to be nothing special, but very drinkable. Now that it has gotten colder, I enjoy drinking this in the afternoon while relaxing. Reviewed as part of theTeabox subscription program.

I really enjoyed the flavor of this tea. It wasn't too strong. Tasted a little spice maybe, and a definite citrus flavor.

Uncomplicated enjoyment!

Likes : Unique Flavor Profile.

An un-complicated tea with a definite fruit/citrus aroma. A simple tea in that it does not demand or require too much - other than just enjoying it! The sort of tea that goes well with a book - it lets you concentrate on something other than itself! It has a good, rounded mouth-feel with some slightly 'rough' tanin leading to just a touch of astringency. I get the sense that this could become bitter if oversteeped but I play safe and keep the steep time to a little over 4 minutes. Maybe a LITTLE sugar or honey, for those that like to add sweetness, would smooth-off this tea but it might then seem a little bland - I like it's character just as it is... with a book, or while working.

The color of honey

Likes : Great Aroma.

When brewed, the tea is a beautiful golden honey color. It smells sweeter when the leaves are dry. I love the smell of coriander but I did not notice it much at all with this tea. The initial flavor is not very strong, but it does leave a strong citrus-y after taste, which I don't mind. It smells sweeter than it tastes and is more bland than I expected. Next time I will definitely add some local honey and I believe it would be much better with the added sweetness.

Drinkable and subtle, different from my other experiences with black tea!

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma.

Dislikes : Weak.

Needed a lot of leaves to brew and still was not very strong - I found it very easy to drink but not very flavorful. On the bright side, it was very forgiving to brew and did not get bitter! Dry leaves smell very fresh and have a sweet aroma, but when brewed these fruity flavors only come through subtly.

Definitely "Special"

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma, Smooth Body, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Anytime.

I do indeed find this tea to be “special”. The leaves have a greenish-coriander scent and the aroma of the liquor is more fruity than green. The brew has a rich, full-bodied texture, which after a short steep is still more green than gold. I really liked this cup and look forward to two more while I decided whether to buy a full supply. Loving this Nepal First Flush sample set!
