Singbulli Exotic Spring Flowery Oolong Tea

What makes this tea stand out from all other spring oolongs is its bright flavors, derived from the flowering clonal buds. Citrusy and floral, the tea tastes smooth but not light. It carries the typical tanginess of first flush teas but with fuller and sweeter flavors. If you are an enthusiast of a mature and full flavored oolong, this tea is a great choice.

the experience

Perfumy, marked by the freshness of pea shoots, notes of unripe apricot, sweet lime, and citrus blossom.

Pale yellow

The liquor is bright and clean-flavored right from the start. Its flavors are mellow, extremely smooth, citrusy and floral. Subtle notes of cucumber come through in the finish, and stay a while on the palate. There is a noticeable umami quality to the tea which is not commonly found in spring flush oolongs.

A light snack or a bowl of fresh fruit.

dry leaf

Restrained note of sun dried grass, toasty with hints of chamomile.

Abundant powder green buds with loosely rolled dark green and olive green leaves.

Subtle vegetal notes, some floral hints and lime zest in the undertone.

Mix of bright green and olive green leaves.

An amazing profile without any added fluff

Likes : Smooth Body, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Afternoon, Evening, Dessert Tea.

Smooth and mellow. The slight vegetal and citrus gives it a pleasant cucumber feel. The light floral notes round out the oolong exquisitely. I'm not normally one for floral tastes, but this is gentle without ever being weak.

Light and Airy but with Substance

Likes : Freshness, Smooth Body, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Morning, Afternoon, Dessert Tea.

The aroma of the dried leaves is fresh and airy, with sweetness and tones of spring flowers. The steeped liquor has a moderate yellow/gold hue and a very grain-like aroma. The taste stays true to the name in that it has flowery/perfume flavors that accumulate on the palate the more one sips. This tea has a considerable lightness to it, but is never weak or boring. I picked this tea to try because a guest wanted something "flowery"--and it definitely delivered. A very light/airy tea drinking experience but with some substance. Singbulli Exotic Spring Flowery Oolong leaves you with a gentle perfume taste and is a great pick-me-up on a dreary afternoon.

lovely light tea

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma.

Dislikes : Weak.

Best Served : Afternoon, Evening, Dessert Tea.

This is a very nice oolong, but doesn't have quite enough caffeine to be my morning tea. I have to use more of it to brew my cup just because the leaves are so long and spaced out. It's great for an afternoon or evening tea.

A wonderful flowery Oolong!

Likes : Great Aroma, High Quality.

I received a sample of this 2016 Oolong. It was a great delight to drink this tea. The aroma is so wonderful that I waited for a couple of minutes, enjoying the aroma, before I took the first sip! I think it is great afternoon or night tea.

Flowery spring indeed!

Best oolong tea I've ever tasted, perhaps the best tea I've ever tried. Light, fresh, fragrant and floral. A joy to drink! Reviewed as part of theTeabox subscription program.

Nice Smell

Likes : Great Aroma.

Dislikes : Weak.

This tea dry has a sweet, flowery aroma and is very pretty to look at but the smell is not as strong once brewed. In my opinion, since it is more of a light tea, it is nice to drink at night. The next time I make this tea I will use more tea leaves because it was a little weak for my taste, but still very good. My first loose tea brewing experience was a tea with a lot of (what looked to be) dried fruit chunks and who knows what else in it. (It came from a well known expensive tea company, usually found in the mall.) I thought is was good until I tried this one which had the fruity sweet flowery smell and aroma without all of the extras.

So delicious!

This tea was so delicious. With very subtle notes of citrus and the rich signature taste of a Darjeeling, I could drink this nearly every day and be happy.

Greenish Oolong similar to Taiwanese

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality.

Best Served : Afternoon.

A very good greenish oolong indeed. It’s funny that Indian oolongs look nothing like Chinese and Taiwanese oolongs in the dried form, yet they sometimes (as in this case) brew up with a very similar flavor profile and scent. Light and refreshing, smooth and silky. I like it!

Lovely floral, maybe even dessert Oolong

I received a number of teas from a friend for my birthday and hadn't had a chance to relax and enjoy a cup until tonight. I chose to try the Singbulli Oolong, as I wanted something lower in caffeine. Opening the bag, I was greeted with a delicate floral aroma that didn't overpower the Oolong scent. I have to be in a particular mood for floral teas, but I have it a shot anyways. After brewing it in my Breville One Touch, for a surprising 4 minutes, I poured my first cup. I was even more surprised to find that the floral notes were very noticeable, and had a wonderful level of natural sweetness that didn't overwhelm. Now typically I do not sweeten my teas, nor do I generally enjoy sweeter teas; however this cup was heavenly. It was the perfect bedtime cup! The info above suggests cherry blossom, but I'm not sure I can agree with that, nor can I pinpoint what floral variety I'm enjoying. It also stands up well to a second steeping! Which is comforting after noting the price per ounce. A bit steep (haha pun!), but I encourage tea lovers to give it a try. This may well become a new bedtime ritual, becoming a full time tin in my cabinet.

Refreshing and fantastic

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile.

The aroma is very distinct and refreshing. Strong notes of lemon, flowers and fresh cut grass. A hint of typical chamomille darjeeling oolong. Taste is very well balanced between lemon and flowers, but not very strong. The finish is strong and lingering with flowers, lemon and grass again. Also the chamomille hint returns. The tasting notes recommends sugar. I have not tried, but can not imagine that is any point, as it is so good alone. Pricy, but one of the very best teas I have ever tasted. Just the finish is worth the price of this tea!

Excellent tea to sip on its own

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Evening.

A great light oxidation Oolong, the dry leaves are beautiful to look at with fine white hairs, its aroma is unique and complex, more savory than fruity, (with more steeps the savoriness decrease to be replaced by citrus) notes of tropical night flowers with a definite citrus background. Reminds me of hot nights in Gardens in Ghana. It brews into a pale golden liquor, I brew gongfu style with 4g/120mls at 185f (I know I use a lot of tea but that with that I find I can get up to 5 steeps). This tea dose not disappoint, savory with lots of lemon/lime notes and the smell of night flowers, not too sweet, with little astringency and a smooth body. The the tea changes at the 2-3 re-steeps, it becomes more citrusy(more of lime)with a pleasant dryness and the savoriness fades. Excellent to sip while contemplating the universe. The price is steep but its worth the experience.

Unique flavor profile

You can clearly see the quality of the tea, but it does not compare favorably with its cost. The taste is not exceptional in any way, nor is it bold. I expected much more for a tea with a fine pedigree. There are much better options at teabox.

Outstanding in every sense

This is a very special tea with such a unique aroma one could write pages and pages about it to describe all its minute details. Once brewed it is highly scented and reminds of orchids and white blossoms. The flavour is complex and well balanced with refreshing floral characters and the smoothness I have gown to really appreciate in a good oolong tea. This tea is superbly refined, elegant and the perfect cup to relax with and think about the day.
