Singbulli Exotic Summer Oolong Tea

description

This is a typical high-fired, heavily oxidized oolong which has the makings of a black tea. But its flavors are so smooth and easy going, it immediately hits the spot for oolongs. For fans of light blacks and strong oolongs, this is the tea to pick.

A nice variation on a typical oolong

Likes : Smooth Body, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Morning, Afternoon.

The dried leaves have a very understated aroma--a slight tone of dried fruit and subtle scent that reminds one of a forest in bloom. The steeped liquor takes on a light golden color and has a smooth, nutty aroma. The taste follows suit, offering a strong nutty flavor that backs off into a slight hint of perfume tones. Overall Singbulli Summer Oolong is a great fill-in for a Formosa oolong. I enjoy Formosa oolongs but the earthy, roasted flavors with these can sometimes be quite harsh. Singbulli Summer Oolong harkens to these tastes but has a smooth mouthfeel and some playful undertones that make it a gentler, more enticing experience than your typical "dark" oolong.

Nice body, earthy aroma

Likes : Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality.

Dislikes : Bitter if Over-Steeped.

Best Served : Anytime.

This tea has a very pleasant sweetness without being overbearing. It has a medium body, not too dark, with great flavor, but can be a little bitter if oversteeped. I thought it did fine with a second steep and I appreciated the earthy smell (it wasn't super floral).

Really good!

I've always been a huge fan of the Darjeeling region - this is no exception. In my experience, tea from Darjeeling does have a tendency to get bitter easily, however, if you pay attention you'll end up with a great cup of tea.

I got this tea as a free sample It isn't what I usually buy but was impressed. The leaves are still quite moist. Its a very fresh and pleasant tea.

Great Oolong

When I opened the bag, I knew I'd be a fan of this tea. The tea smells great and tastes even better. I prefer honey over the recommended sugar - but only a little honey. I definitely recommend.

Good, sweet, mossy oolong!

Good oolong here. Flavor was just right, and additional steeps yielded a more subtle and sweeter flavor profile, like any good oolong. Flavor is a bit peat-y, great tea for autumn!

Fruity and lively tea

This is a sweet-smelling tea with a medley of fruity flavours. Mostly, I tasted berries and hints of peach. The smell, which I absolutely love, reminds me of a newly- opened bottle of jam. The brew itself is smooth and toasty, although not as striking as its aroma. Perfect lazy afternoon tea!

The dry tea leaves look enticing and their aroma is amazing. I want to have that smell in a candle. The tea is well balanced in its flavor profile when steeped less than 2 minutes at less than 190F. There are flavors of dark fruit and a slight nuttiness. I love how mellow this tea is.

Colors in the dry leaves look amazing. Dark, fruity aroma with hints of cut wood. Flavor is roasted fruit and aroma and it makes a smooth cup.

Exotic and Unexpected

Likes : Great Aroma.

Best Served : Afternoon.

This oolong offering from Singbulli certainly looks and smells exotic! The dried leaves range from a clay reddish-brown to a silvery tipped and near white. The scent evokes the memory of a dark, unsweetened fruit compote. The tea is definitely on the darker roasted side, as far as oolongs go, and the flavor seems somewhat woody and not very sweet. It’s pretty good, but not my favorite from the oolong sample pack. I really love the way the dried tea of this Singbulli smells, but the taste is just okay to my palate. Of course, I prefer greener oolongs more generally...
