Imperial Breakfast Tea

A tea like this is just what you need to kick start a morning and put you in a good mood for the day to follow.
Beaming with robust flavors of dates and malt, and a sweetness arresting nuance of nutmeg, this tea is one delicious indulgence. Given the strength of flavors and astringency in this tea, the addition of milk to the seemingly-rich brew works really well. However, this tea can be enjoyed plain just as well.

I really liked this imperial tea, both with milk (brewed a little stronger with more tea leaves and a five minute brew) or plain, in which case I brewed for four minutes and enjoyed a second and even third brew (although the taste was of course a little weak on the third brew).

Nice wake-up tea

Likes : Freshness.

In my opinion, the taste description provided for this tea is completely accurate. I did find it to be more astringent than some other breakfast teas and as such, found the sweetness to be less noticeable. The hint of nutmeg flavor in this blend sets it apart from the rest. I had my first cup plain and my second steeping with milk and sweetener and noticed that did tone down the astringency quite a bit.

robust and respectable breakfast tea

Likes : Smooth Body, High Quality.

Best Served : Morning.

The imperial breakfast blend comes over as a smooth and broad tea with lots of assam infused maltiness- however, it lacks some of the complexity and punch of some of the other breakfast blends. However, it remains robust and respectable.

All around robust early morning pleaser. Lacks a little complexity in flavor notes, but gets the job done with style and quality.

Interesting blend with smoky notes

Likes : Unique Flavor Profile.

Dislikes : Weak.

The flavor of the blend was interesting and I enjoyed it, but I was expecting more kick for a breakfast tea. This would be a good brunch or Mother's Day tea, something to serve with flaky pastries.

the best of the Breakfast Teas

This is my favourite of all the Teabox teas I've tried so far (out of about 20 teas of different kinds). It is a blend, has wonderful strong flavour and great balance, being on the Assam/malty side of flavours. There is no bitter edge to this tea at all, its very smooth but also interesting, and you can over-steep it without much worry. I recommend a full 5 min steep to bring out all of that deep malty flavour, but it is a big strong breakfast tea and so will be fine with a shorter brew also if you prefer it to be slightly lighter. If you like Assam and English Breakfast teas then you will probably love this as much as I do. The king of breakfast teas. Highly recommended.

Make a good and strong cup, with some complexity. Not dull and monotone like most breakfast blends. This is high quality all the way.

Truly Excellent Breakfast Tea

Likes : Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality.

Best Served : Morning.

Imperial Breakfast Tea is comparable in quality to the best single estate Assam teas. The leaves are dark and small with beautiful golden flecks. The aroma is biscuity and sweet. The tea is full bodied, malty and wonderful. If you enjoy tea with milk, this is one to try. I just hope the 2015 is as good.

Strong Wake-Me Up Tea

Best Served : Morning.

A strong, wake-me up tea. Good with milk and light biscuits. Fresh and smooth. A good tea that does not get bitter from oversoaking.

I can't fault it.

Likes : Freshness, High Quality.

Best Served : Anytime.

I thought this was cheap end of the market blend but I was wrong. This is the very best of teas you can buy anywhere. At your door, as fresh as it left the plantation, within three days. I really look forward to waking up in the morning to enjoy my first pot of this delectable brew. (The first of many pots of the day, I must add, from the countless different superlative varieties of teas from teabox!)
