The Garden

Nestled in the hills of Darjeeling, Jungpana's name honors Jung Bahadur, a Gorkha guide whose loyalty became local legend. Established in 1899 by Henry Montgomery Lennox.

Perched at 4,000 to 4,500 feet in the Kurseong Valley, its heritage china bushes yield remarkable clarity, and the estate remains celebrated for its prized summer muscatel lots.

A poised, medium-bodied cup that captures the freshness of early spring with clarity and finesse. It opens on vivid green, forest-like notes, evoking tender shoots and moist undergrowth, before brightening into a lively citrus lift reminiscent of lemon zest and soft lemonade. The mid-palate reveals a gentle warmth, layered with fleeting wildflower nuances and a touch of natural sweetness. More than 20 years a customer!

I have been drinking the tea from this garden for years, and have never once been disappointed. Brewing a cup, opening the top of the pot to savor the unique scent that says Darjeeling. That’s why when the 1st flush teas become available, my first purchase is always Jungpana!

My favorite estate

It's one of my favorite estates among all darjeeling growers. I know a new harvest is arriving soon but with teabox's good quality control and trust-worthy storage, I am happy to buy 2021 harvest at discouted price for everyday consumption.

Truly exception cup of Tea

Absolute amazed with this subtle, almost round bodied cup of tea with a mind blowing hint of sweet fruit notes. Highly recommended. The service of teabox is exceptional though!!!. Liked it very much. I have tried different cups from this garden from different seasons, and never I was let down. Thumbs UP!

Lovely, simple tea

Lovely smooth taste. I am not use to such light black teas and it personally reminded me more of a green tea due to that fact.
A simple flavour and on the weaker side which means I can easily enjoy several cups.

A Lighter tea, acuratly described

In its dry state, the tea is leafy and has a green color. After steeping, it is a light honey color, which is not surprising as the tea's description states "rose and honey" I usually have to add honey to most teas to cut bitterness, but as this one is light with a slight taste of honey, I did not have to add more. A good tea.

Strong

Good aroma and taste, slightly bitter if left alone but does have a very good relationship with cream and sugar (with in reason). I am more apt to add cream and sugar to darker blacks, or more flavorful steeps that might feel overpowering alone after half a cup.

My favorite from the box

I love black teas they are my favorite and my go to drink. This one is fantastic I love the golden color and the smell is just refreshing. I can never drink black tea by itself though. I had to sweeten it just a tiny bit just to cut the bitterness before you swallow.

Interesting Black

Very interesting black tea. Dry leaves smell like seaweed. Aroma is fainter when steeped. After steeping, leaves look greenish. Seems more like a green tea to me, since I'm used to the strong, dark, English breakfast blends when I usually drink black tea. This tea has a grassy, spicy, veggie palette.

good tea but a little bland considering

It's a good tea but a little weak in taste. Still, it's good compared to other black teas

Perfect anytime tea

I loved the slight honey and citrus profiles in this tea. It's great for drinking at any occasion or any time of the day.

The perfect any time tea.

A beautiful amber colour and wonderful exotic aroma. An elegant balance of flavour, not too bold, not too tannic. It has a nice gentle lingering after taste. I could drink this all day.

Smooth, light afternoon tea.

I've never loved Darjeeling tea because it's always been too weak for my tastes, but there's enough flavour in this Jungpana that it managed to keep me very interested. Sweet, bright and happy, good for an afternoon reading session.

Great tea experience!

Flavor: subtle flowery notes, black rice, date, dried mango, and slight hint of pepper. Taste: Very sweet umami with ginger feel, chrysanthemum-like and flowery aftertaste. Overall, astonishing black tea giving a calm and meditative experience. Want to buy more!

Interesting Black Tea

Tastes like a cross between a green tea and black tea and is very, very good on it's own. I taste a little bit of the citrus and the green chili flavor is definitely there. I'm interested to try brewing it at a lower temperature to see what other flavors come out.

One of Darjeeling's best!

All of the teas that I had experienced from the Jungpana region have been superb, but I think this one is the best.
I am not sure what 'Chinary' means exactly, but I think it may have something to do with the history of the plant and its relationship to China. I can somewhat taste a Chinese influence on the flavor of this tea. I think that this is what makes this tea very unique and something that I thoroughly enjoy.
I will be hopefully trying this again soon.

Great anytime tea

This is a great tea for anytime of the day. You can add milk, but it is just as good without. The only thing I added was a bit of rock sugar.

Green black tea

Great tea. Strong and fruity. Quite green for a black one. I prefer less time and lees temp. than recomended. Fantastic citrus aroma. Love it. Good for strong tea lovers

Harmony in a cup.

A really good first flush, well balanced with fruity, flora and citrus notes, the dry leaves have a savory note which is lost in the brew, the liquor is a gorgeous golden amber, and the taste is a fully balanced experience with a deep complexity, and pleasant dry bite, warning do not brew above the recommended temp (185-190F)

Very nice

Very aromatic with noticeable stone fruit fragrances. Brews a very pleasant vegetal base with the expected stone fruit nuances present. I did not detect the expected floral notes, but found the tea to be delicious. I agree with the above notes on avoiding the higher steeping temperatures leeching a bit much tannins.
