A classic

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma.

Dislikes : Bitter if Over-Steeped.

Best Served : Morning.

A very typical breakfast tea with an interesting balance between the earthy maltiness of the Assam and the lighter, more astringent and floral notes (I detect rose, sometimes) of the Darjeeling. It does get bitter quite easily and is rather dry on the palate.

Classic!

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile.

This tea smells like your typical high-end breakfast tea from a tea bag, but tastes SO much better. I love that it is familiar but such a huge improvement over the usual. As with all Teabox teas, the freshness and quality makes all the difference. I enjoy this tea the most with a splash of almond milk and a pinch of stevia- it really brings out the flavors.

A breakfast tea for Darjeeling drinkers

Likes : Freshness, Smooth Body.

Best Served : Morning.

Maltier than a typical Darjeeling but brighter than a typical Assam breakfast tea, this blend is low on the low notes, high on the high notes,- a fresh Darjeeling-esque strong tea.

I liked the aroma and enjoyed drinking

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma, Unique Flavor Profile.

I had never had loose leaf English Breakfast tea before and I enjoyed it more than with a tea bag. It wasn't a flavor that was particularly new to me but it seemed fresher. I liked the aroma, especially before steeping, and enjoyed drinking it with milk and a bit of sweetener. Reviewed as part of theTeabox subscription program.

Great tea!

Likes : Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality.

The product description is, again, absolutely spot-on. It has a mellow and sweet taste and a slightly bitter aftertaste lingers for a long time. One of the best teas I've had.

Malty and fragrant

Likes : Smooth Body, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Morning.

Though i don't drink 'Malty' and robust teas often, like the ones from Assam, i was pleasantly surprised by this tea and enjoyed drinking it. The peach colored liquor gives off a lovely mix of sweet-malty and subtle floral notes. It steeps quickly, but still remains flavorsome. The liquor is smooth without much astringpalate, the malty/bready sweetness is evident, though not over the top. I didn't try it with milk, and i suppose it would be best had plain

Solid Tea

Likes : Freshness, High Quality.

Dislikes : Bitter if Over-Steeped.

Best Served : Morning, Afternoon.

I first brewed this tea for the recommended 5 minutes, and had a very nasty and astringent tea. The next time I steeped it for 1 minute, which is what I typically do with the typical english teas (e.g. PG tips, typhoo, etc), and it was much better. This tea is pleasant and has an earthy taste. It didn't blow me away, but it was good!

Wonderful quality

Likes : Freshness, Smooth Body, High Quality.

Unlike most I've had before, there is no astringency. Excellent flavor. Brews a nice cup quickly without the need for large quantities of the leaves. This came on my first order from Teabox and was also impressed with the speed of delivery, the packaging which included sealable bags and labels.

Simple and mellow

Much better quality than run-of-the-mill big label breakfast blends. Toasty and a little malty. Not too much of an astrigent "bite".

Nice gentle wakeup

This tea will gently tease you to wake you up. Other breakfast teas I've had will give you a punch in the tastebuds vs this one.

Respectable breakfast tea

Likes : Freshness, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Morning.

This is certainly very pleasant breakfast tea and excellent value. When at its freshest, the tea had an excellent slightly skunky herbaceous quality. (Another reviewer accurately referred to this quality as a "cannabisness.") This flavor diminished as I worked my way through my 100 grams. Relative to a full blooded Assam, this tea is on the lighter end of the spectrum. It is reasonably malty and biscuity, but notably less so than some to best Assams I have had from Teabox (e.g. Mangalam Gold or Halmari Special). Out of curiosity, I tried the English Breakfast back-to-back with the Imperial Breakfast, and the latter hit a brighter and broader range of citrusy and spicy notes.

Surprising

Likes : Freshness.

Best Served : Morning.

I received a small sample of this tea with a larger order. It was not with much enthusiasm that I got round to trying it. It was surprisingly nice and not the mundane 'breakfast tea' that I was expecting. The slight astringency was a good kick start in the morning. Will be ordering more.

A light grade Assam style

Likes : Freshness, High Quality.

A light Assam character tea with little to really recommend it other than pristine freshness. I prefer a fully malty, more characterful Assam. This is a quantum better than the tired version from your local boutique tea shop.

My favorite morning tea so far.

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality.

This was my favorite morning tea so far. It has a nice aroma, not super bitter smelling. And it's taste was really solid like coffee just needed a little sweetener. I'm sore this would make great earl grey.

Not so English

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma.

Best Served : Morning.

This is not your standard English Breakfast at all. I tasted a hint of smoke and some richer malty flavours. The palate is long and lingers nicely. What a pleasant surprise, it's now my first cup of tea when I get to work before moving onto a Classic Assam.

A Different Sort of English Breakfast Tea

Likes : Unique Flavor Profile.

This is not a typical English Breakfast tasting tea. The dry leaf smelled a bit sweet and biscuity/malty. Wet, the leaf produced a very malty fragrance with a touch of sweetness. But now that I’m drinking it, I’m not only getting sweet maltiness, but I’m also getting a cannabis note from the tea. Anyone that’s ever gone to a concert knows what that smells like. It was a surprising note for me in an English Breakfast tea. Perhaps it has something to do with this is probably the freshest tea I’ve ever had….it’s a 2014. There is a bit more than “a little” astringency to this tea as well, as my tongue felt dry after each sip. The maltiness and cannibisness (ha!) lead to a nicely balanced medium mouthfeel breakfast tea. I would not turn this away at a breakfast table, but with the cannabis note, perhaps for me it is better relegated to an aprés concert cuppa.
