Also makes a great iced chai

For the hot months in the summer I have been making this chai iced for a refreshing drink. This chai is heavy on the cardamon which gives it an amazing aroma.

Smooth and flavoursome

Likes : Great Aroma, Smooth Body, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Anytime.

A surprisingly smooth mellow base underwrites a deluge of delicious spiced flavours- certainly the cardamon is the dominant taste but as you get further through your cup the safron and ginger tickle their way to the top. Most enjoyable indeed.

This is an extremely flavourful tea! Perhaps the most bold and spicy chai I've tried. If you like strong chai flavours, this one is perfect! It is one of my favourite teas.

Strong Cardamom Flavor

Likes : Great Aroma.

Dislikes : Bitter if Over-Steeped.

Best Served : Anytime.

I like chai, but I am certainly no chai connoisseur. My approach to preparing this tea involved boiling it in water for about 5 minutes and then adding soy milk and bringing it to a boil one more time before straining. The Teabox steeping instructions on the label were simply to steep the tea for 4-5 minutes at 90-95 degrees centigrade. I found that the boiling/traditional chai preparation yielded much better results: more flavor and more depth. This is CTC, rather than leaf tea. That is fine for chai, but given that it is CTC, it does not seem like a compelling value. Other reviewers refer to the flavor and aroma of saffron. My experience with this tea is that cardamom is far and away the dominant spice.

High-quality Chai tea w/ exotic spices.

Likes : Unique Flavor Profile.

This tea has a tremendous variety of different spices in it and the aroma when you first open the bag is totally intoxicating. I love the saffron in the tea and I think that it is the most apparent ingredient in the flavor-profile. I tried this tea over ice this summer and it was amazing. All you need is a dash of sugar and then its perfect. I love the bronze color of finished tea and how smooth the texture is. I am going to share this tea with my friends because I know they will love it. It is bold and refreshing and anyone who likes tea will certainly recognize just how much care was taken to craft this blend.

Love at first whiff

Likes : Freshness.

Out of these three teas, this one was the one i looked the most forward to trying. Indeed i opened the sachet of this one first and as soon as the aroma of bold and colourful Indian spices arrived to my nose i knew this was The One. I had chai before, but this particular blend is something else entirely, the freshness of it, the ideal balance between bold and "in your face" spices but at the same time their perfect smoothness on the palate is an experience. The colour of the steeped tea is very dark, the aroma is every bit as compelling as in the dry mix, and the flavour when plain is quite strong. Once mixed with milk and sugar it becomes the perfect comfort drink, there is nothing i'd rather have after a long day at work, and still it retains the flavours so masterfully blended. This chai has become an instant favourite of mine, definetly reordering it as a stand-alone.

Instant favourite, love at firts whiff

Likes : Freshness, Great Aroma, Smooth Body.

Best Served : Morning, Afternoon.

This tea came as one of the 3 teas in my first box (definetly keeping the subscription by the way), and I was instantly intrigued when i saw Kolkata Street Chai as one of the teas. Indeed when the box first came the first thing I did was open it and I fell in love instantly. As soon as I smelt the wonderful aroma of it I was completely sold. I've had chai before but this one is something else entirely. It's really bold, strong and spicy. Tenacious and with lots of character. However, it's silky smooth in texture and the aromas and flavours of the spices blend perfectly together. Plain it has a really dark wonderful colour, given by the top notch Assam, and lots of strong spicy notes. With milk and sugar it becomes the most perfect morning/break tea in the world for me. I'm definetly ordering this chai on the regular from now on, it was an instant favourite for me.

I did not like this tea much as compared to the Bombay Cutting Chai. May be it is not suited for my taste bud

A new favorite

This was an instant favorite that will definitely go on my re-order list. I was looking for a bold, very spicy chai and this one did not disappoint. This CTC-leaf chai brews up strong and dark, and the unique blend of spices produces an indescribable aroma and taste. If you are looking for a chai with a lot of kick, and aren't afraid of some new spices, give this one a try - it's an excellent value for the price, too!

A unique blend

Best Served : Morning, Afternoon.

The aroma is a little funky, but after adding a pinch of kala jeera (which adds smokiness to the funk), this became a favorite.

Aromatic & Fantastic

This tea was an extraordinary surprise in my sampler of all Teabox chai teas. I am not the biggest fan of cinnamon (which is highly overused here in the USA in chai and flavored tea blends). For me, it tends to overwhelm all other spices, so I was delighted to find that this tea didn't list cinnamon as an ingredient. When I opened the packet, the smell was extraordinarily aromatic, and that didn't change when the tea was done steeping. Cardamom, nutmeg and saffron are an exotic change from ordinary chai teas...I highly recommend this to anyone exploring chai and looking for their own cup of perfection. I have found mine here.

Taste the saffron

Likes : Great Aroma, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Evening.

This chai tea has a unique smell and taste, due to I believe the addition of the saffron. It made it much more savory than most chai teas I have had in the past. If you want to try a chai that tastes both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, then try this.
