The Garden

Puttabong Tea Estate, among the earliest gardens of Darjeeling, traces its origins to 1852 under Dr Archibald Campbell, spanning elevations of roughly 2,000 to 6,500 feet.

It gained international attention in 1992 when one of its specialty teas achieved a record auction price, a legacy of nuance and clarity the estate continues to honor today.

How To Steep

Step 1

Heat 150ml of water to 85–90°C (185-194°F).

Step 2

Measure 3 tsp (2.5 g) of tea into the teapot or infuser.

Step 3

Pour the hot water over the leaves and cover.

Step 4

Let it steep for 6 minutes.

Step 5

Strain and pour. These leaves give their best in one steep.

Serving

Enjoy it plain, or with a splash of honey or lemon.

Wow! Spring Darjeeling

I've always liked Spring tea from Puttabong estate, and this is exceptional. I was doubtful about the steeping instructions on the box, because they called for more time and more tea than I generally use for this type of tea. (I hate Darjeeling tea that taste like perfume, and that's what happens when you use too much tea or over-steep.) But this is wonderful steeped according to directions, complex and not overly strong, and... well I can't say it better than the tasting notes. The 50 grams won't last long at this rate; maybe I'd better purchase more soon.
