Darjeeling Samabeong Spring Black

Purchased this as part of three First Flush premium teas from 2023 season. Both this and the one from Seeyok garden evoke a subdued sense of sugarcaney sweetness, a taste profile that is exceedingly rare amongst Darjeeeling tea’s and last found only during the 2017-18 season. Exceptional tea. Highly recommended.

Fresh and fragrant. Perfect Darjeeling

A gorgeous sweet, flowery tea. The essence of Darjeeling. And it comes so fresh from Teabox. This is not the stale tea you get at a an old musty local shop, this is so much better. And love that it is organic. Makes me want to try the other first flush offerings they have. Great company.

Samabeong is one of my favorite afternoon teas. It is as satisfying as an Assam but not as high in caffeine.

One of my favorite black tea.

This tea is different than most teas. it is the first time I tasted this new flavor since it is the first Darjeeling first flush I tried. The only problem is that you get bored of the taste over time, so don't buy a lot of it unless you tried it before, and make sure know you will not get bored of it, as the taste bud of every human is slightly different. This is just my personal view, so don't count on my review alone. Enjoy your teas, everyone!

I am not a fan of first flush Darjeelings. I ordered the black Darjeeling sampler pack and found this gem.

The taste description written above nails this tea. My palate is not near advanced to write such a wonderful description as the writer does of this marvelous tea. The transition from peony, to cantelope, to candied pears was a joy and such a splendid taste journey. I enjoyed each sip even more and the lingering taste of the candied pears from the last sip compliments the floral peonies of the next sip.

Whether you prefer green or first flush black teas or are looking to expand your collection, this first flush from Samabeong is truly a fantastic flavor experience.

Excellent. The notes just keep you in enchantment. I would say it is a must for all tea lovers. Although i am a lover of white tea but this is indeed one of the best for all time in a day. Samabeong has just given me a satisfaction to relish my tea time every time i sip my cup.

Good first flush. Very aromatic. A little too "green" tasting for me.

Bitter, but not harsh or too tannic. Light, woodsy. Did not taste the citrus in the first go - after searching a while, it came up a little in the middle. Reminds me of a green tea.
While it has an edge to it, honey or lemon smooth it nicely. Lemon overpowers the taste, but creates a delightful mix. Honey mellows and gives a pleasant taste to ponder. Did not enjoy honey and lemon together, it dried my mouth and brought back an edge. When iced, the honey/lemon combo was much better. (Do not resteep)

A simple tea that reminds me of a light Chinese black.

Very light black tea with pleasant mild aroma and taste. Not a special tea, but easy drinking.

I like darjeerling tea, especially the frist flush. This tea estate is the frist time I try . there is no doubt that it's the
right choose when I drank it. The aroma a litter like the cape jasmine flower which bloom inJun in china. I prefer to enjoy it in the evening.

Dried leaves definetly smell like dried leaves, which I love. It is very smooth and soothing on the throat. I love this taste.

This is a lovely delicate tea. I found I needed to use a generous amount of leaves due to the big leaves and to brew for slightly longer than I normally do. Found it to be very fruity in a tropical way, with just a hint of astringency. A really beautiful cup of tea.

This a delicious and refreshing tea provided you find its distinctive flavour characters appealing.
Unlike most first flushes, citrus and dry tropical fruit notes predominate. There's no hint of the sweetness normally associated with Darjeelings, nor a lot of the herbal aromatics found in other first flushes.
It brings to mind one of the more fragrant Chinese Phoenix oolongs, or even a very dry Sauvignon Blanc wine.
I love it. It's beautifully made, and can be savoured over the full length of the palate. But you have to be receptive to what it offers.

A great brew from a new estate, I definitely got the citrus undertones that developed into a slightly astringent finish (but it was nice!).
