Story Behind This Chai Premix

For over a decade, Teabox has crafted India’s finest loose-leaf chais — blends made with real Assam tea and regionally inspired spices. Many of these became customer favorites: Kadak Chai, Assam Masala Chai, Wayanad Cardamom Chai, Kashmiri Saffron Rose Chai, and Kolkata Street Chai.

But there was a gap.

The ready-to-drink premix market was dominated by sugary, heavy, artificial-tasting products filled with maltodextrin, preservatives, and synthetic flavors. Convenience came at the cost of health — and chai lovers deserved better.

Is it vegan or lactose-free?

No. Every sachet contains real milk solids — that’s where the creaminess comes from. If you’re lactose-intolerant or vegan, this one isn’t for you (yet).

I have diabetes — is there added sugar?

Zero added sugar. Sweetness comes from stevia leaf extract and the natural roundness of milk solids. Many customers managing sugar intake choose it — do check with your doctor.

How long does international shipping take?

Does it contain caffeine?

Yes — it’s made with real Assam tea extract. One cup has roughly half the caffeine of a coffee.

Why do I see tiny spice particles in my cup?

Because the spices are real and ground, not artificial flavourings. A little sediment at the bottom is a good sign.

Does it taste like stovetop chai?

It tastes different from a slow-brewed stovetop cup — creamier and quicker.

Is this suitable for lactose-intolerant customers?

Our premix contains dairy whitener, so it may not be suitable for those with lactose intolerance. Please check the ingredient list before consumption.

Does it contain caffeine?

Yes. It contains caffeine naturally present in Assam tea extract. The level is similar to a regular cup of chai. Enough to refresh you, not overwhelm you.

Why do I sometimes see tiny spice particles in my chai?

Those are real, finely ground spices like ginger, cardamom, and nutmeg — proof that we use natural ingredients instead of artificial “masala flavor.” They are completely safe and edible.

This is the best chai premix I have tasted.. It was creamy with just the right amount of sweetness that didn’t take away from the flavor of the tea. Wish I had doubled my order since I had issues receiving my order.

Best Treat Ever!

Chai sounds so lovely. Making it is more than a recipe, it’s a ritual, elegant and meditative in theory, but harsh and laborious in reality when I’m achy and tired and old and cranky and overworked. Find a pot, suitable tea, fresh milk, rose petals, and some fragrant spices, which means freshly ground and not the ones left in the cupboard from the ill-advised attempt at making Swedish pickled herrings eight years ago. Simmer the blend for the correct time, which I’ve forgotten. Wipe the kitchen counter, soak the pot, clean the dribbles off the floor, then sip the now half cold chai. My husband suggested I try Teabox’s chai pre-mixes but I was doubtful, an ’instant’ tea mix is not promising, and honestly I wouldn’t have tried them from anywhere other than Teabox, who knows the good stuff. My trust panned out because their pre-mixes are not only effortless, being complete with tea, spices, and milk, but also absolutely delicious and soothing for both the body and spirit, with that ineffable ’someone who cares made this for me’ quality mixed in there. The biggest problem is trying to not slurp down the whole box at once.

Good product for busy tea drinkers

I myself buy the Teabox chais that you have to prepare by boiling, but I got this chai premix 10-pack for my sister's family. I knew they live busy lives (having a baby and building a house) and they could appreciate the comfort and energy that a cup of chai can provide. And I was not wrong - they went through the 10 sachets in no time and said it was very tasty and convenient. I recommend this product if you don't have the time to boil chai with water and milk, or if you want to introduce someone to chai without scaring them with the preparation process.
