How To Steep

Step 1

Heat 150ml of water to 85–90°C (185-194°F).

Step 2

Measure 2 tsp (2.5 g) of tea into the teapot or infuser.

Step 3

Pour the hot water over the leaves and cover.

Step 4

Let it steep for 5 minutes.

Step 5

Strain and pour. These leaves give their best in two steeps.

Serving

Best enjoyed plain, or add a dash of milk, honey or lemon.

Storage Instructions

It’s a black tea crafted during the summer harvest (typically June–July) from specially selected clonal cultivars. These are propagated for their desirable traits — like fuller body, unique aromas, and richer flavor.

What does this tea taste like?

Summer Clonal Black Teas are bold and expressive. Expect a full-bodied cup with mellow sweetness, brisk structure, and notes that may range from floral and stone-fruity to lightly nutty — depending on the cultivar and terroir.

How is a Clonal tea different from a Chinary tea?

Clonal and Chinary teas differ primarily in the plant type and cup character.

Clonal teas are made from specially selected cuttings (or "clones") of high-performing tea bushes. These are propagated for specific traits — such as fuller body, unique aroma, or higher yield — and often produce more consistent, richly flavored cups.

Chinary teas, on the other hand, come from seed-grown, heritage China bushes. They tend to be more multi-layered and complex, with floral, citrusy, or brisk notes that can vary more from season to season or the altitide of the section from where the tea leaves were plucked.

Can I add milk and sugar?

My Darjeeling or better Darling Ruby

The Darjeeling Ruby is such a delicious and delicate tea. After a trial order I was so delighted that I ordered 2 more boxes to start with. A nice and funny anecdote is the fact that Ruby is also the name of wife already for 40 years my soulmate and partner 🥰
