Harmutty Special Summer Black Tea

description

Once again, we find ourselves admiring the fine make of this year's Harmutty black tea. Its flavors are brisk and imposing, sweet yet warming, and that's everything you'd expect from a high quality orthodox Assam black tea.

Balanced

Likes : Smooth Body, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Anytime.

A rare balance can be found in this tea, the body is well shaped with all possible angles well smoothed. Still without loosing personality; a bit of sweet can be also found in the very remote corner of the mouth.

Delightfully mellow afternoon treat

Likes : Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Afternoon, Evening.

Taken with milk, this tea glides down smoothly leaving a sweet and nutty aftertaste. Its balanced and gentle flavours make it an ideal afternoon or evening tea- especially considering its medium caffeine content. Certainly my preferred choice for a mellower cup.

Lovely 'lighter' Assam.

Likes : High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile.

Best Served : Afternoon.

Not alot to add to other reviews, other than to suggest this to others who normally prefer Darjeeling-type teas, but would like to try something 'fuller'/heavier. This is not as chewy as many Assam teas and was lovely drunk plain with no milk or sugar, even after a full 5 minute steep. Leaves the mouth a little dry. One word sprung to mind... 'Toblerone'!! Yes, it has an innate sweetness and almondy nuttiness that reminded me of this chocolate!

A sweet malty morning tea

Likes : Smooth Body.

Best Served : Morning.

This tea had a sweet honey aroma which carried through with the flavor of honeyed malt and touch of floral with some astringency for structure. It had a nice well rounded mouth feel and long drying finish. I like this kind of rich malty tea with milk but actually more of the flavour came through when drunk plain.

Perfect Start to Morning

Likes : Smooth Body, High Quality.

Best Served : Morning.

Although this is a summer assam, I perceive this tea as having more fall characteristics. Rather than the delicate and floral/honeyed taste of say the Chota Tingrai, this is your ever-faithful simple breakfast tea. A little more heavy-bodied and malty (as an assam should be) and does not become bitter with a proper 5-minute steep. Takes milk/sweetener without becoming bland. A little less expensive than some of the other summer assam teas recently purchased, this has become my automatic reach instead of coffee in the morning.

Nice Assam

Likes : Great Aroma, Smooth Body.

Best Served : Morning.

The leaves have a pleasant toasty aroma and pretty gold flecks. This tea is a little more delicate than the classic full-bodied malty Assam. It probably depends on the steeping time, but I found it to be relatively low astringency. I enjoyed it both plain and with soy milk. Very pleasant sweetness and woody notes.

A good tea

Enjoyed it. I like assams occasionally. Always plain. This was a good tea and I enjoyed drinking it steeped at 4 minutes.

A solid Assam

Likes : Freshness, Smooth Body.

Dislikes : Bitter if Over-Steeped.

Best Served : Morning.

This is an Assam that I've consistently revisited for many years. Teabox's offering is quite good as well. It is smooth and malty, as an Assam should be. The liquor lends itself well to milk, if you so choose. One of the best things about this tea is that the flavor is sound whether one steeps it for 3 minutes or for a full 5 minutes. Nothing is lost on either extreme. 5 minutes is certainly a more pronounced flavor palate, but 3 minutes is quite nice as well.

Good Morning Tea

Use rounded teaspoon and steep for 5 minutes for a full-bodied smooth malty tea. Quite tasty-one of my favorites!

Smooth and pleasant but not strong enough for my taste

Likes : Freshness.

Dislikes : Weak.

Best Served : Anytime.

As a converted coffee drinker I like a very strong black tea. This tea was very smooth, fresh, and had a good "woody and malty" flavor, but I wouldn't characterize it as "bold and brisk"

Good everyday tea

Nice flavor notes, and is smooth compared to some other assam teas I have tried. Only dislike is that it needs to steep a little longer then most other black teas to get the full flavor.

This is an anytime Tea for me

It was slightly stronger & more robust with a light sweetness than my Regular Assam teas. I was also surprised by the smoothness of the flavors.

Nice and strong Assam

This is an outstanding Tea It is strong, but with a sort of round subtle aftertaste Found it to become slighly bitter (in a good way) if steeped longer

Good strong black tea

Likes : High Quality.

Best Served : Anytime.

I am a fan of strong, malty teas; I even appreciate a bit of bitterness. I also use honey and milk, so that must be considered. Nonetheless, you have to steep this tea for a very long time (8-10 min +) to achieve a bitterness that most would find distasteful. It makes a strong cup at 5 minutes and holds up extremely well to milk (as well as soy milk). Overall, this is one of my favorite teas from TeaBox, another being Bokel.
