Story

Founded in 1864 as Bara Ringtong, Margaret’s Hope Tea Estate is among Darjeeling’s most storied and emotionally resonant gardens. The estate received its present name in 1927, when its owner, Mr. Cruikshank, renamed it in loving memory of his daughter Margaret, who had deeply fallen in love with the garden’s serene Himalayan landscape during her visit. Though she dreamt of returning to make the estate her home, her untimely passing on the journey back to England transformed the garden into a lasting tribute to her memory.

Nestled in the mist-laden slopes of Kurseong between 3,500 and 6,000 feet, Margaret’s Hope is celebrated for its predominantly Chinary tea bushes and the refined elegance they bring to the cup. Another Good Spring Chinary

This was the 4th Spring Chinary Black tasted from my sampler pack (see Castleton, Okayti, & Goomtee). With my limited tasting experience, I can’t claim to taste major differences but all have been good. Still getting used to such light golden hues from black teas. If anything, my first brew of Margaret’s Hope had very slightly more astringency but not high. Looking forward to a few more cups.

Christmas Cheer with Margaret's Hope

My FAVOURITE tea purchased during the Black Friday sales. I could not help myself and bought two kilos!! It's great that the tea is packed in 100g vacuum sealed packs - always fresh and now I have many stocking fillers ready for Christmas! Being summer here in Melbourne, I love steeping the tea in cold water in a big pot, leaving it overnight in the fridge and delicious refreshing cold tea the next day! Full of all those special Margaret's Hope flavours

Mellow and calming

It has a beautiful sweet fragrance when steeped and had the distinct flavour of black tea. But I think due to the fact that this is the first flush, it is not at all bitter and has a subtle but fulfilling taste. I would say it is for those people who want try the basic black tea flavour without its harsh body.

I want to swim in this tea

This Spring Chinary Black tea is one of the best black teas I've ever tasted! If 'late afternoon sunshine with a side of clean rain' had a taste, this might come close: fresh, complex, with a natural sweetness. I served our first pot of it with a little Manuka honey for extra anti-inflammatory help. But this tea can stand alone. Now I see the difference fresh tea makes, sourced by people with a passion for tea!
