Where is Sikkim located?

Sikkim is a northeastern state of India, bordered by Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet (China), and West Bengal. Known for its stunning Himalayan landscapes, it became India’s 22nd state in 1975.

When did tea plantations begin in Sikkim?

Tea cultivation in Sikkim began in 1969 with the founding of the Temi Tea Estate in Namchi, South Sikkim. Today, Temi remains the region’s most iconic garden.

At what altitude is tea grown in Sikkim?

Temi Tea Estate is located at elevations between 4,500 to 6,400 feet. This high-altitude range, coupled with Sikkim’s cool climate, imparts unique flavor and aroma to the teas.

What does Sikkim tea taste like?

Are Sikkim teas similar to Darjeeling teas?

A “near-Darjeeling” at a good price

As noted, it’s a high altitude tea not far from Darjeeling & in my limited experience, that accounts for the similar characteristics & taste though I do feel this is a bit more astringent in the mouth (but not overpowering). I still get the vegetal notes and brews a little darker than spring Chinaries. I like that I got a full 100g for about $9 US (as of spring ‘26 for summer ‘25 harvest) It adds a nice variety to my steeping options.

This Sikkim Temi Summer Muscatel black tea is reasonably excellent in taste but the flavour is quite mild,however I am satisfied with the overall quality of the tea within a budget

Lovely tea, would recommend

This is a lovely tea, taste perfectly as described. For me it is a little too vegetal in taste (personal preference only!), hence 4 stars. Beautiful leaves and makes beautiful cup!

Tea for connoisseurs

i live in a hill station and my family and i love a good cup of tea the thing is that at first i did not think much of it but then later realised i was not brewing the tea in right proportion and right temperature and that really matters.
This tea is fantastic black and it will help you get away from the routine teas we usually drink.

This year Temi is even better than last year

Muscatels in my opinion are a bit of hit and miss stuff. So each year I wait with baited breath and try teas from multiple estate to settle on my favorites for the year. The Temi surprised me this year. It was one of favorites last year. This year around it’s even better. Definitely a very nice aroma and flavor that lingers long after the cup has nothing left. Here is a tea which is splendid and more than competes with its peers from Darjeeling.
