Teabox chai collection

Beaming with flavors, freshness, and more, our chai collection is unlike any other that you will savor. Disrupting a 200-year-old industry was not easy, to begin with, and the chai scene was even more difficult to conquer.

Our chai collection is more than just black tea blended with spices. Each blend is steeped in cultural dynamics, traversing across different states of India to bring rich Indian flavors, unique to the region.

Our chai collection showcases the best of Indian chai teas with the Punjabi Masala Chai from the north, Kolkata Street Chai and Assam Masala Chai from the east, Bombay Cutting Chai from the west, and Wayanad Cardamom Chai from the south.

Bombay Cutting Chai

Bombay never sleeps. And to help people pause in this fast-paced life, chai comes to the rescue. It’s also the place where the concept of cutting chai arrived. In literal translation, cutting means a half-cup of chai. Cutting chai in Bombay is the lifeline of Bombay.

From high-end corporate offices to small shop owners located in the narrow lanes, the chaiwallah delivers the same chai in small glasses juggled in the vintage cutting glass stand. More than a beverage, chai is an emotion here. Whether you dip bun maska in it with your partner at an Irani/Parsi cafe or take the first bite of a street-side vada pav or samosa at a local stall in the pouring rain, a cup of chai is all that makes Bombay unforgettable.

Inspired by the bustling city, we have crafted a blend, Bombay Cutting Masala Chai. This blend celebrates the amalgamation of different cultures and emotions in Bombay with a mix of chai, ginger, cardamom, and fennel. The spicy ginger, pleasant cardamom, and soothing aroma of fennel mix incredibly well to make a refreshing cup of Bombay Cutting Masala Chai.

Kashmiri Kesar Gulab Chai

Many believe that the valley of Kashmir is like a live painting. With breathtaking scenery all around, there is, no doubt, no place more beautiful than this.

Breathing in nature with a shikara passing over the quiet water of Dal Lake, with a hot kangri kept inside your phiran, relishing the snow at Gulmarg or an excursion in Nishat Garden, Kashmir stays with you years after you visit. The gardens here paint a picturesque beauty and at the same time produce delicate spices. At an altitude of about 5,200 feet, the valley produces some of the most expensive and rarest saffron in the world. And the incredibly soft roses that grow here are naturally light-scented.

Our Kashmiri Kesar Gulab Chai is the representation of the everlasting beauty of the valley. Blended with chai, picked saffron strands from the valley, delicate rose petals, and aromatic green cardamom, it’s a cup of chai that blooms with rich flavors. Saffron brings intense color, aroma, and a unique flavor, while rose brings a calming effect coupled with soothing green cardamom. Be it morning, afternoon, or evening, our blend is made for all times of day, an ode to the Kashmiri chai ritual that runs all day long. Sip on a heavenly cup of chai!

Kolkata Street Chai

When you start walking across the streets of Kolkata, you get mesmerized by the city’s old British architecture from the pre-independence era. And as you begin exploring the city through the charming trams and the local food on the streets, kathi rolls and jhalmuri, an irresistible scent of chai invites you, making it impossible to avoid that invitation.

Such is the tempting aroma of the chai. The Tea Capital of India thrives on its chai addas. The locals seek solace at their favorite chai adda, while travelers are always in search of ‘the perfect chai adda’. With every discovery at the corner of a street, the chai adda starts to become famous. An adda is a day-to-day meeting place where infinite conversations happen over chai in kulhads, sustainable earthen cups locally called ‘matir bhaar’. The natural properties of the kulhad add great character to the taste of chai.

Our blend, Kolkata Street Chai, is an ode to the city’s culture and vibe. Selected saffron strands are mixed with cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, and chai to make this delicate blend. As you begin sipping this fragrant cup, the calming notes of cardamom arrive at your palate with strong hints of ginger, citrus, malt, and nutmeg. Saffron brings richness and enhances the flavors of the cup. A cup reminiscent of the City of Joy!

Wayanad Cardamom Masala Chai

Wayanad is a district in Kerala, a southern state of India. Standing tall on the Western Ghats, in God’s Own Country, some parts of Wayanad are still inhabited by indigenous tribes. Untouched and unexplored, this place produces high-quality spices and rice, cardamom being one of them. For ages, Kerala has been known to grow the best quality cardamom in the world.

Also known as the queen of spices, cardamom requires almost constant rainfall, and it’s the humus soil that enhances its growth. As you start to enjoy the rains and the backwaters, a look around for a cup of cardamom chai is inevitable, making you arrive at a chai kada. Chai kadas are small chai stalls situated at every corner of the state. Along with chai, pazham pori and bonda, the local snacks from the state, are everyday chai snacks, relished with every bite.

Our Wayanad Cardamom Masala Chai is a simple yet skilled combination of selected Wayanad cardamom and chai. By half-beating the cardamom pods and mixing them with chai, we ensure their flavor is completely locked in. As you sip this blend, the fresh and cool aroma of the green gem takes over your senses. An irresistible cup of chai!

Assam Masala Chai

No one knows where chai came from, but it’s a well-known fact that the British got us into drinking tea. When tea production started in India, most of it was produced in Assam and exported to Britain. As people there experimented with the new beverage, they began to like it.

However, no one knows why they added milk to tea. Some speculate that its taste was too strong for their palate. Hence milk and sugar were added to tea, making it ‘chai’ in the subcontinent. And when they traveled to India, this habit of adding milk was adopted quickly by the Indian traders in Assam and West Bengal. Soon, the tradition of chai started in India. When the British introduced snacks with chai, it became a daily ritual in every household in India. In the coming years, spices were added to chai, making it a masala chai.

Assam Masala Chai is a blend expertly made by our in-house master blenders. Cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom, clove, and ginger are mixed with precision with chai, picked from the finest Assam tea estates. As you begin sipping this aromatic chai, all the spices and the chai balance well in harmony. A cup rich in history and tradition!
